US orders massive recall of beef

Some choice quotes from the article:
"Much of the meat was purchased for school lunch and other federal nutrition programmes."
"
Some of the beef was destined for federal welfare assistance programmes, as well as some major fast-food chains."
"
But officials said most of the recalled meat has probably already been eaten."
"The USDA recalled beef products from the Westland/Hallmark Meat Co, dating back to 1 February 2006."
So it took them two years to uncover this, shut it down, and issue a recall.

Wonder if this will come up during the Obama-Clinton debate on Thursday, what with the link to schools ("think of the children!").

Homework News
I really wish I still had a "Reading News" subheading in these posts. *sigh*

I had my essay about the Library of Congress Subject Headings nearly ready. I needed to revise it, check spelling/grammar and then print and submit in class on Wednesday. Then today, at 3:30pm, I realized that I had overlooked something really important. I had to run to the Graduate Resource Centre before it closed (it's not open on Family Day, and I've got way too much on my plate on Tuesday). I frantically photocopied my missing material, and I've been at home this afternoon re-writing my paper and drinking espresso to stay positive and productive.

I also took some time to rehearse my presentation for Tuesday. I'm a little over my allotted time so I'll spend some time later tonight to make my thoughts more concise.

Exciting, non? Well, it is for me. If I survive this week (and I'm now starting think that I just might), I'll be in the clear for the rest of the term.
