After an "upgrade" was done to the computers at school last night, we're down to 10 functional machines in our 3 computer labs. This e-mail was just sent to us by the admins:
Issue Occurrence: Today
Issue: the push of Microsoft service pack 3 for XP seems to be causing
significant problems with certain workstations. Identified so far are Lab
A,B,and C computers and some faculty office machines. Not all workstations are
effected but those that are, seem to be in an infinite reboot mode. We have
some workstations still up in the various labs but not a full compliment.
At this time we are working with Microsoft to find a resolution but have no
timelines yet. We will post updates at <school intranetsite> when we know more.
This issue should not effect data or access to U: drives from working machines.
Comments
If you have a home or research machine running XP, we are recommending you NOT
install service pack 3 for now.
Poor guys. Can't believe they tried upgrading on a Monday night, though.
