Ottawa's New Cycling Plan - Quick Follow-up
After my last post about Orleans Blvd. suddenly becoming part of the Ottawa's cycling network, I wrote a letter to my new city councillor. I'm waiting for a reply.
In the meantime, I went jogging down Orleans Blvd. last night and spotted the feature that obviously qualified it for inclusion in the cycling network. There are a few "Share the Road" signs, which basically means, "Please Don't Run Over Cyclists for Sport". These signs aren't even listed on the Ministry of Transportation's web site.
Watch out, Amsterdam and Copenhagen! Ottawa will soon be the cycling capital of the world! Your fancy bike lanes are no match for our mighty yellow signs!
