Happy Budget Day!
Feb. 26th, 2008 08:42 pmLooks like the federal budget will pass. From a selfish standpoint, I'm glad. I'd rather the election be held in the fall, when I'm back at home in Ottawa and can help out my local candidate. Otherwise, I'm indifferent. The Conservatives and Liberals seem to be trying to show that they can play nice and cooperate, at least when it comes to our involvement in Afghanistan. All it took was a statistical tie in the polls for everyone to start getting along famously!
In other news, my knee needs another 3 months of strengthening before I can play football again. I was a bit disappointed with the delay. Actually, I was depressed, which was a bit irrational of me. Things could be worse. Much worse (warning: very graphic video of an injury that occurred in the Premier League last weekend). So I will be redoubling my efforts at the gym in order to be ready for the end of May and then hopefully I will be given the green light. On the plus side, my knee is strong enough for ballroom dancing.
Reading news...Hey! I have reading news! Each night this week, I'm reading a few pages of The History of England by Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. I also bought a number of books: Monbiot's Heat; Al Gore's The Assault on Reason; a collection of writings by Noam Chomsky; and Life, Money & Illusion. I'll be seeing these books in April...or August!
