...but not too busy to fire off a few e-mails to my MP. Turns out the Conservative government is going to attempt, for a third time, to bring forward a copyright reform bill. It's on the Order Paper today for the House of Commons. Given the intense lobbying by the US ambassador and US media interests, many fear this bill will be the Canadian version of the US Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA).

They tried to put this forward twice just before Christmas and withdrew it both times due to strong opposition from citizens. If you're concerned and you have a minute, go read Michael Geist's blog, or join the Fair Copyright for Canada group on Facebook (now with over 40 000 members), and then write your MP (if you're a keener, you can also CC Industry Minister Jim Prentice, Heritage Minister Minister Josée Verner, and Prime Minister Stephen Harper).
